Acquire A Taste of Artistry And Find Your Inner Artist

By Jake Levin

Inspiration comes from many places for Abbie Devers, the owner of A Taste of Artistry.

Whether from her mother, who always inspired her to work hard for what she wanted, or for her son, for whom she wants to show that anything is possible, Devers has had little trouble finding motivation to make A Taste of Artistry a must-see destination for those in historic Bristol Borough, Pa.

For about four years, Devers operated as a mobile business, bringing the fun of paint parties directly to you. This past July, she set up a more permanent operation at a studio in downtown Bristol, which will be featured on a Hulu series this fall for its recognition as the best small town in America by the Delux Small Business Revolution.

The fame hasn't gone to the head of Devers, who offers paint parties for both children and adults at A Taste of Artistry.

"We are definitely not your normal paint studio and wait until you see our creative space," Devers said, declaring the studio's atmosphere as fun, laid back, inspiring and creative. "Everything is painted! We offer a wide range of classes for all ages; we throw great birthday parties and love to help with local fundraising."

Open studio time is also available at A Taste of Artistry, where you can walk in and turn your canvas into your own personal masterpiece starting at $10. There are pre-drawn canvases, blank canvases for the über-creative, glass pieces, wood and stone paintings and more.

A qualified artist herself, as she has a Bachelor's degree in the arts, Devers is there to help you stroke by stroke.

"We have everything you need and no extra charges for paint use and studio time," Devers said. "I am very friendly and love to entertain so when you walk in my door you get to paint in my personal art studio!"

The more popular classes that Devers teaches are step-by-step programs, but her personal favorite is the "paint your pets" portrait class. Not only is each student provided a 12-by-12 blank canvas, but a portion of each ticket price goes straight to local animal shelters.

The sense of accomplishment each artists leaves with just might be the source of the most motivation for Devers, as she lives her dream of teaching art and inspiring her son as a single mother.

"Everyone who has been in one of my classes, to see the look on their faces after they achieved a painting they never thought they could, they keep me inspired every day," Devers said.
