Cobble Creek Cafe:From Empty Property to Prosperous Business

By Elisha Neubauer

Bob Burns owned a piece of property in Harrisburg, PA and didn't know what to do with it so he turned to his friend Jason Jean. The pair deliberated, and decided that with Jean's background in the food service industry, a restaurant was the perfect choice.

It didn't take long for the pair to realize exactly what they wanted to offer from their fledgling business. They wanted it to be fast casual and freshly made meals, but they wanted a twist. They also wanted to offer real fruit smoothies that were free of artificial flavoring or syrups.

They decided on their plan in 2014 but it took up until 2015 for construction to start. On July 7th, 2015, Cobble Creek Café opened for business. On opening day, the pair were surprised to see a line of people at the door.

"The smoothies and menu were a huge success and other locations soon followed," the owners said.

The business duo builds each location themselves using recycled products. Each location is unique, with its own eclectic style. Each eatery contains three of the same elements, however; the hand designed rope cobble creek which hangs on each wall, the color blue, and the color green.

"The rest is a mishmash of items for seating dividers and counters, chairs and tables," the owners said.

In addition to an inhouse menu, the business offers a catering service. Cobble Creek Café's food is so unique that they have the ability to make specific items to specifically fit your needs for your event. Unlike larger caterers, who only offer a cookie cutter catering menu.

"For most that do catering, it's what's on their menu and that's it," the owners said. "To us, it's about you the customer and we will do our best to make sure that at-least your food for your event will be on point."
