Learn to Paint with Friends at Kennett Design Paint Party

By Marina Jokic

The mobile painting trend has been around for years, but KDPaintParty has improved upon it by bringing painting parties on the road. KDPaintParty holds mobile events in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. A typical party can gather anywhere from 12 to 40 people, bringing together friends and relatives interested in art while giving them the opportunity to bond over appetizers and drinks. It's hard to turn down an invitation to such a soiree.

"The painting party experience is fun, fresh and creative," owner Marion Hess said. "It is an environment where you generally come with friends and family, so it is a social experience."

KDPaintParty's team transforms your chosen venue into a tailored event that can be paid for by individual participants or entirely by you. With very little mess in the process, the studio uses non-toxic, water-based, acrylic paints that are easily cleaned with water and a sponge. They also bring tablecloths and aprons, covering all possible bases.

Absolutely no prior experience is required before signing up for one of KD's offerings. In fact, a lack of experience might make it easier for some to pick up new skills and correct painting habits more easily.

Clients are free to select the piece of art they want their group to recreate as well as the medium, and KDPaintParty chooses the artist instructor and all the painting supplies. Hess has organized events at people's homes, club houses, halls, bars, and restaurants among others. Moreover, hosts are highly encouraged to hire KDPaintParty for regular parties at their venues and not just one-off events. For instance, their "Paint and Nibble" nights are hosted by Talula's Table KSQ while their "Paint and Cruise" parties take place on board the MV Bay Breeze.

"Kids especially love the process of creating and enjoy having a finished project to show their family when they are done," Hess said. "Ours kids' designs are fun and easy, and each child leaves with a lasting memento."
