Lizhi Health Spa Is Southeastern Pennsylvania's Massage Oasis

By Pamela Sosnowski

Lizhi Health Spa has been bringing Chinese style massage to southeastern Pennsylvania for over 15 years. Owner Lizhi Stepp practiced and taught massage in five-star hotels in China for a decade before marrying an America and bringing her expertise to the States. Today, her spa has two locations, in Langhorne and Jenkintown, where clients can treated to full body massages and reflexology.

"When my husband brought me here in 2008, I went to work for other companies and noticed that they were not doing the massage correctly so we opened our first spa in Jenkintown in 2011," she explained. "Later we opened our second in Langhorne in 2016."

Deep tissue massage is among the spa's most popular services, and is available in Thai, Japanese, or Korean style. It also includes the Chinese method of walking on the back. Hot stone massage, where warned stones are placed on specific parts of the body, is also in demand. The spa also offers Tui Na massage, which is similar to acupuncture in that it opens and directs the flow of "Qi" (pronounced "chee") or energy throughout the body.

Lizhi Health Spa can also detoxify the body with a foot bath designed to draw out impurities that have built up in the body over time, from the environment or consumption of processed food. The service will also soften and help beautify the feet.

Both spa locations offer serene treatment rooms and waiting areas, which Stepp describes as "nicely decorated, clean, and very comfortable with soft music to relax." A 30-minute body massage starts at $30, and most services are available as 30, 45, and 60-minute long sessions. A sauna is available to use for an additional $20.

Lizhi Health Spa offers seasonal specials throughout the year, including $10 off the couples' massage treatment for Valentine's Day. Clients who book a mini facial on their birthday will receive an additional 10 minutes of treatment for free.

Clients describe the spa as "a hidden gem", "magical", and "calming" with plenty of free parking. The spa operates seven days a week. The satisfaction of clients once they're free of soreness that has plagued them for a while is part of what drives Stepp and her success.

"I knew I could help people with their pain issues and discomfort from stress," she stated. "We are constantly training our staff to the individual needs of our clients for a better experience."
