Philly Power Yoga & Thrive Pilates Addresses Integrative Fitness

By Kelly Church

Philly Power Yoga & Thrive Pilates is a joint business, owned and operated by Steve Gold, a yoga instructor, and Hally Bayer, a Pilates teacher. Gold, the owner of Philly Power Yoga, was dedicated to his own personal yoga practice when he decided to open his own studio more than ten years ago. For Bayer, who opened Thrive Pilates eight years ago, she wanted to offer a safe and inspiring place for people to feel stronger and healthier. The two joined forces to create a unique Philadelphia, PA studio.

"Philly Power Yoga & Thrive Pilates offers a welcoming, safe space where community is valued above all else," Bayer said. "The ability to feel grounded and centered happens as soon as you walk through the door. We are here to have fun and to embody our most authentic selves, teachers and students alike."

For yoga students, Philly Power Yoga offers an array of classes for yogis at all stages of their practice. Beginner Philly Power Yoga is designed for those that are new to yoga, teaching the basics of an asana practice. Power Yoga welcomes students for 60, 75 and 90 minute classes that take students through a flow in a room heated to 90 degrees. More gentle classes include Yoga Stretch & Restore and Pre-Natal Fitness.

"At our studio, we tend to mainly focus on the key principle of finding your edge," Bayer said. "Paired with the heat, the challenging asana sequencing offers the practitioner a chance to explore their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual boundaries."

For Pilates classes, Thrive Pilates brings mat Pilates classes at every level. The beginner class takes students through movements and poses at a slower pace, focusing on technique. The intermediate and advanced-level class brings more challenging exercises to the mat at a quicker pace. Specialty Pilates classes are also offered to target specific body areas, including the butt and thighs, abs and arms, and a class with props.

"Another unique aspect of Philly Power Yoga & Thrive Pilates is that we offer a variety of amazing services under one roof," Bayer said. "We believe in integrative fitness and wellness provided by the combination of yoga, Pilates, barre, cardio and meditation."

Memberships are available for Philly Power Yoga and Thrive Pilates individually. For any student that wants to experience the full spectrum of classes available at Philly Power Yoga & Thrive Pilates, there is a joint membership available at $129 per month. To find out more, visit
