Spring Cleaning Tips For Your Home

By Tabitha Naylor

With spring on its way, it is high-time to do some top to bottom revitalization in your home. You should start by focusing on the larger items and the areas that make the biggest difference: i.e. carpeting, appliances and furnishings. Once you have completed these bigger areas, you will have your home finished and ready for the spring in no time. Some other quick tips to help get the job done are highlighted here.

Make Your Welcome Mat Welcoming

Wash them, beat them and shake them - whatever it takes to make them bright and fresh. This is after all your first defense against dirt being tracked into your home. It is important that you keep them as clean as possible to ensure that they function at optimum efficiency.

Clean your Upholstery and Carpets

Your fabrics have enjoyed a winter's worth of germs, body oil and dirt. You will need to clean them well to prepare them for another year of use. When you are cleaning your upholstery or shampooing your carpet with a rented machine, you should practice in an unnoticeable area first to learn how to properly use the machine. You can speed up the drying time by opening your windows.

Clean Up Your Floors

In order to protect your flooring in the kitchen, you can apply a coat of wax or sealer. The easiest method is to use a product that combines a wash and wax product. While no-wax floors will not need any type of polishing treatments, an occasional makeover can help them look better longer.

Woodwork, Baseboards, Cabinets and Wash Your Walls

While your walls may not appear to need a bath, looks can be deceiving. By using a sponge and dishwashing detergent, you can wash the surface in different sections. Be sure that you wring your sponge into another bucket so that you are not using dirty water. You will be surprised how much better your walls can look after the process.

Vacuum Smartly

There are new rules when it comes to vacuuming your home. No longer to you have to drag all of your furniture off the floor to vacuum it, instead just slide your furniture one way or the other and vacuum the space.

Clean Your Ceiling Fixtures

A great pick-me-up for your home is to clean your ceiling fixtures by removing the dirt and dust that has collected. Also, don't forget to clean your air conditioner vents with a soft cloth and a vacuum. This will also improve the overall air quality in your home.

When you utilize these spring cleaning tips you can have your home ready for the warmer weather in no time. Additionally, these tips will help you expedite the process of cleaning that may have taken you an entire week in the past and now it will only take a day or so. There is no reason to take so long cleaning your home, when you can achieve great results without all the time and hassle.
