Taste And Nutrition Meet At Be Well Bakery & Cafe

By S. Mathur

At Be Well Bakery and Cafe, taste and nutrition go together. The motto 'Eat Well. Live Well. Be Well.' is taken seriously, and customers find an inviting community atmosphere.

"The lighting is beautiful, and the artwork, featuring paintings from a local artist, Bronwen Mayer Henry, complements the space," Aurelle Genzlinger, Event Co-ordinator, said. "There is a special kids area, which is a favorite of young families, and an eclectic assortment of tables and seating to accommodate large and small groups. The espresso bar is the perfect place to visit with the barista and other customers, or quietly read a book and work while enjoying a meal."

The bakery and Cafe were opened in 2012 by a husband and wife team in Bryn Athyn in Pennsylvania's Huntingdon Valley. Adriann Spinks Glunz with her passion for baking and healthy cooking and her husband Ryan with his business degree, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to Peanut Butter Tuxedo Cups joined forces bring healthy recipes to the community. Located at The Shops Village Center, the cafe has just undergone a 3,000 square ft expansion.

Adriann constantly experiments with family recipes to produce unique new favorites. She also draws upon her experience as a rower to ensure that the food will be healthy and nutritious. Genzlinger's personal favorite in the baked goods category is the Carrot Zucchini Pecan Cake.

"[It's] a moist spice cake, with whipped cream cheese frosting and pecans both baked in and coating the sides," she said. "It's available in our case by-the-slice, or can be ordered whole for your special occasions (or just because).

There's a substantial breakfast and lunch menu as well, and lunch is served all day. One of the most popular menu items is the butter bean burrito with roasted butternut squash, black beans, red onions, mozzarella and pepperjack cheeses and chipotle aioli. There's also the hearty Maddie Salad, which has mixed greens topped with avocado, tomato, cucumber, red onions, cashews and feta and a creamy caesar dressing on the side. Sides include salad, soup, sweet potato hash, fruit cup or a bakery item.

For dessert, Genzlinger recommends the classic Whipped Cream Cheese Tuxedo Cup, which is a brownie cupcake with a light whipped cream cheese filling. Customers can get the refreshing and healthy Bright Eyes Smoothie made with orange, peach, mango and ginger to go. Another signature drink is the Bee Sting with lemon and lime juice, ginger, honey and apple cider vinegar with plenty of water to keep you hydrated.

The customer service experience is important at the Cafe

"Every order and catering event is an opportunity for us to provide an amazing customer experience, to build real human connections, and to grow our Be Well community built on our love for food and healthy living," Genzlinger said. "This comes through in our menu options, in our customer interactions, and in our delivery."
