The Concrete Restoration Process

By Brian Sleeper

Tell us a little bit about your company and its foundation.

Restoration Masonry Works was started in 1994 by industry veterans who saw the need to provide a higher quality restoration than available in the Pennsylvania area and through the loyalty to our customers and the hard work and dedication of our employees. Restoration Masonry Works to this day is still providing the best it can bring in masonry restoration and in new construction too.

What are some important questions to ask before beginning the concrete restoration process?

The first question you ask is... Is the project a restoration candidate?

Most masonry walls tend to be good candidates while some concrete floors may not be. In a nutshell, most thing are restorable, just not all things.

Secondly, you want to know...What products they intend to use on your home or business and how they rate, in comparison to what may be other choices available to you on the market.

What areas call for concrete restoration?

The most common areas that need restoration are areas that are open to water exposure and or freeze/thaw cycles. that spall brick and crack concrete.

If you could, please list the steps of the process:

From pool decks(indoor and outdoor) to sidewalks and everything in between, we research the best product for your specific situation or demand.

We have many different approaches and an array of restorative products that apply to many different situations. There are substrate differences and texture differences and weather or not it's been painted, it's location and so and so on.

How do you suggest clients prepare for a this process?

There is little to nothing at all required of the customer. We typically need water and electric access or to be told that we need to make that happen too before we can start the job.

What maintenance is required for concrete flooring?

There are polishes, sealers, hardeners and cleaners and let's not forget the removers all geared to every individual customer and their specific needs.
